Maharashtra elections (India): An update, & Devendra Fadnavis' new term

Around a month back, I had written a post on the Maharashtra elections. I was unable to make any predictions there; however, my feelers regarding Mahayuti weren't great. I made an error there.

The Mars-Pluto opposition across the 4H-10H axis that I had noted in that post itself actually worked in the ruling combine's favour (it is no surprise then that with such a potent force on its side, it had to be a landslide win), rather than against it. I quote myself from that post:

Now one could also try to interpret this Mars-Pluto opposition in a positive way: one could assume the BJP representing a Plutonic force and Mars thus giving energy to this.

I had discarded this possibility, but this is what indeed happened. I should indeed have interpreted this in a positive way for the BJP.

Astrology is often like this, hence a difficult task. One makes errors in interpretations sometimes. When the same thing can point in two directions, it can be difficult sometimes to see which one is the direction pointed to. I am thankful from this exercise for two things: one, that at least I did not make any firm predictions there, as, even though every astrologer is bound to go wrong here and there, still an astrologer tries to achieve perfection as much as possible; and two, it is a very great occasion of learning for me for future Mars-Pluto oppositions, as this one will always stick in memory.

What I had mentioned about the Moon being void in that post has indeed happened, though again a possibility that I had not taken seriously enough. I quote myself again from that post:

If one assumes that the EC was neutral and its only desire was conducting a free, fair and smooth election, then the election process itself may see turbulence.

Very strong aspersions and doubts, whether founded or unfounded, have been cast on the electoral process and complaints have been filed to the Election Commission, a clear result of the Moon being void.

Now for the new term of Shri Devendra Fadnavis as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. For this one, one does not need to speculate about the time at all, as his time of taking oath is known. At 5:35 pm in Mumbai on December 5, 2024 (incidentally a date that I had marked as a Critical Date for India a long time back). Following is the chart for the time he took oath:

One usually would avoid the 10th house, the house of power, being occupied by Saturn, a malefic. The 10th here, in fact, is being occupied by two malefics, Saturn and Neptune. However, the ruler of 10th is in 10th, and Saturn here is peregrine, neither well nor ill dignified. Still, being in a Jupiter-ruled sign, it is not that comfortable, one can say. This Saturn is in an extremely tight square with the Sun, which rules the 3rd house, which is being occupied by a quite dominant and malefic Mars. The 3rd house would indicate here ideologically or historically closer allies, thus pointing to Eknath Shinde's faction of the Shiv Sena. In addition, Neptune, which occupies the 10th house and is currently comfortably placed in Pisces, would move to the anaretic degree in March 2025 and then soon after to Aries. With modern rulerships, Neptune is ruling the 11th house, the house of allies in general. The 1st house ruler, Mercury, is retrograde, and in a mutual reception of detriment with a retrograde Jupiter.

I foresee troubles ahead for the Mahayuti government, in particular from allies such as Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction.

Finally, let us look at the course of the Moon. Its first point of contact will be opposition with an extremely malefic Mars, thus an initial shock. The last point of contact is either a trine with Jupiter, if one ignores the modern planets, indicating that Fadnavis would overcome the shock and troubles successfully, or a square with Uranus, which simply indicates a surprise in store at the end. If one is with the modern planets, though, and their rulerships, the ruler of 10th is not in 10th anymore but in 12th, and that too in Taurus, which represents stability whereas Uranus represents dramatic changes.

Thus, it looks highly likely that the Fadnavis government may be beset by troubles, especially within the first half year of its formation, but in the absence of more data, notably birth chart details of all major players in Maharashtra politics, it is difficult to say if Fadnavis would be able to overcome these troubles or not.
