On June 6, 2025, Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Chenab Rail Bridge, said to be the world's highest rail bridge and the world's highest arch bridge. The bridge, which was first planned in the 1970s, took more than 20 years to complete, being located in the rugged and highly earthquake-prone Himalayan terrain. It is also of strong strategic importance to India and the region of Kashmir, as it connects Kashmir to the rest of the Indian railway network. It would integrate Kashmir better into India, not only physically but also economically. The bridge was to be inaugurated in April 2025, days before the Pahalgam terrorist attack, but the inauguration got delayed and could only happen now in June 2025.
In this analysis, I will look at the timing of inauguration of the Chenab Rail Bridge, and also compare it to another strategically vital bridge, the Kerch Road Bridge, also called the Crimean Road Bridge, which connects the peninsula of Crimea to Russia. Both bridges are highly strategic in nature, lie in or near to regions of dispute and were inaugurated with much fanfare by two very popular leaders of their countries, Modi in the case of India and Shri Vladimir Putin in the case of Russia.
Astrologically, two timings of a built structure are important: the time when construction starts, and the time when it is inaugurated. To determine a construction date and time is not always easy: is it when excavation starts, or is it when the first foundation is laid? In addition, these data are not even available easily. Maybe even some project contractors might not be able to fix it well! But inauguration time is often known well, at least till the nearby minutes, as it is reported by the media and occasion of fanfare. Thus, we will have to make do only with the inauguration time in our subsequent analysis.
So let's, without much ado, take the Chenab Bridge, the subject of this post. It was inaugurated around noon time on June 6, 2025. I could not find the exact moment when Shri Modi and Shri Omar Abdullah (the Chief Minister of Kashmir) cut the ribbon, but I could find 12:07 pm local time as the earliest such time in a telecast, which though seemed to show not real live footage, so I assume it must be a few minutes earlier. In any case, except for the cusps of houses, a few minutes here and there won't matter that much for our analysis, so let's create a chart with 12:07 pm local time, which is shown below:

This is a quite unfortunate chart, not showing much durability. In the chart of any structure meant to be durable, Saturn should have good essential dignity. Here, it is in the sign of Aries, in its fall, it is at an anaretic degree, and it is also conjunct with Neptune (which governs water, which the bridge crosses), besides being sextile with Pluto. One could say here that one cannot wait for months and years for such a vital project, for after all Saturn moves slowly and is now going to be in Aries for a long time. Granted, but at least make everything else better in the chart, but the problems in the chart above are manifold.
Look at the pivots: infortunes occupy them. It is extremely important to have the angular houses free of infortunes. The 1st/7th are occupied by the South/North Node, and the 7th is also occupied by the Saturn-Neptune conjunction. Moon should also be kept away from infortunes, but here the first contact of Moon will be with Mars, not just an infortune but also the Lord of Death in this chart. (And if the 12:07 pm time is quite close to the real inauguration time, then such a Moon is on the contra-antiscion of the Ascendant.) A bridge is a medium of communication, thus we must also look at the 3rd house: while free from any planets, its ruler, Mars, though finds itself in the inauspicious 12th house, the house of secret enemies, among other things. While the ruler of the 1st and 10th is a very well dignified Mercury, acting as some kind of saving grace here, but at the same time the ruler of the 4th and 7th is a very ill-dignified Jupiter, which is not only in detriment and not only at an anaretic degree but also in the bounds of Saturn and also being overcome by Saturn in an out-of-sign square.
This last astrological signature, the 1st & 10th ruler being Mercury and the 4th and 7th ruler being Jupiter, makes for yet another parallel with the Kerch Bridge. Here is the bridge's chart of inauguration:

The story here, besides the same signs (and hence rulers) of the pivots, is different and yet the same. Different in that the particular elements of unsuitability are different. Same in that the chart does not portend a rosy future for the bridge. Saturn here is in its own sign, which is good, but is retrograde. Again, a pivot is occupied by infortunes, with retrogrades Saturn and Pluto occupying the 4th. Neptune doesn't occupy a pivot, but is quite powerful here, being very close to the Descendant. The biggest problem with this chart is that the inauguration has happened just before New Moon, less than 1 hour before it! This is not certainly a time to start a new endeavour. This combust Moon is quite powerless to act, and its only other and final aspect will be a trine to Mars, again the Lord of Death. Mars is again also the ruler of 3rd here, and it is exalted, but at an anaretic degree. In this chart, the 10th house also is an issue, its ruler being in the 8th house. The lord of 4th and 7th here is a retrograde and peregrine Jupiter in a cadent house.
One thing to notice here is also how the 10th house is occupied by benefics (Jupiter and Venus, respectively) in both Chenab and Kerch bridge charts. Even Sun occupies the Chenab chart's 10th house. It is evident that a high dignitary (Modi and Putin) is inaugurating them. However, Jupiter is in detriment, Venus peregrine and Sun also peregrine. The dignitaries are not well dignified!
To look then at the possible future of the Chenab Bridge, let us look at the recent history of the Kerch Bridge. The Kerch Bridge was attacked by Ukraine in October 2022, July 2023, August 2023 and then, again, just a couple of days back, in June 2025. Portions of the road bridge collapsed a couple of times in these attacks and had to be rebuilt. Note that 3rd house is communication and also neighbours.
Looking at the astrological charts as well as the history of Kerch, the Chenab Bridge doesn't inspire much confidence either. The 7th house is particularly badly afflicted, and 3rd ruler again an issue. The 7th rules adversaries, the 3rd communication and neighbours. In the case of the Chenab chart, the 4th ruler is also an important issue, and 4th house governs land, resources and immovable structures.
To summarise, the time of inauguration for the Chenab Bridge was, as far as astrological advice is concerned, extremely poorly chosen. Adversaries, secret enemies, and natural calamities are all indicated in the chart. I hope the bridge can overcome these "birth" obstacles and stay steady and strong for decades and decades, and bring untold prosperity to the region and its people.
