The Pahalgam terror attack (Kashmir): the event, and what lies ahead, seen astrologically

On April 22, 2025, at around 2:30 pm, in the idyllic surroundings of Pahalgam (Kashmir), a terror attack targeted tourists who had been enjoying the beauty of a an alpine meadow, located more than 2,000 metres above sea level. At least 26 people were killed, driving relations between India and Pakistan to a tense moment. Let us look at some of the astrological warnings that were always present for such type of an incident, then at the incident chart itself, and finally at what astrology shows to be the likely course of events in the next few months.

A year ago, I had written how Neptune's entry into the sign of Aries, which happened on March 30, 2025, would bring a strong increase in terrorism and lone wolf attacks across the world.

The following two quotes are from my Year 2025-26 predictions for India:

A time of religious strife, violence and controversies.

Places or businesses of leisure, entertainment and amusement may not do very well. There may be also be a negative incident at such a place

Since the Year 2025-26 began in late March 2025, India has experienced communal violence in Nagpur and Bengal, much acrimony relating to language issues and now a horrific terror attack. The attack happened at a place of leisure, in a meadow full of tourists wanting relaxation and amusement.

I had also predicted back on April 15 on my social media that a major (or several) incident(s) of violence is (are) likely between April 20 and 27, 2025, in a Muslim land(s) or community(-ies) of the world. Just before this week-long period started, there was a huge strike on Yemen, and during this period, besides increasing attacks in Gaza, there is now this terror strike in Kashmir. I hope the remaining days of this terrible week pass off peacefully, but danger still remains in Muslim areas in the world, notably on April 26, 2025. (It is no coincidence that near Istanbul today, on April 23, 2025, a massive 6.2 earthquake has occurred at a shallow depth, but thankfully not causing any damage from reports so far.)

Now let us look at the astrological charts for the time around which the shooting at tourists is reported to have occurred:

Different news outlets give different times of when the attack began, between 2:30 pm and 2:50 pm. I don't know when exactly the attack began, but not much difference happens to the essentials between 2:30 and 2:50 pm (though at 2:51 pm, it would).

The very first thing where the chart strikes you is how the Mars-Pluto opposition is affecting the 5th house-11th house axis: 5th house is a signifier of tourists, whereas 11th house of large groups (not only those of tourists, but also the organisation which has claimed responsibility for the attack). The focal point of this Mars-Pluto opposition is the Sun, which rules the 12th house, a signifier of terrorist activities. Mars is out of sect and essentially peregrine, though a mutual reception at the terms level with Jupiter does save it a touch, but with the caveat that a Jupiter in detriment cannot help it much anyway. That Jupiter, a default signifier of authority in an astrological chart, is in detriment also shows how the government was caught completely napping by the incident. The ruler of the 3rd house (signifying travellers and movement), Venus, is afflicted strongly by its conjunction with malefic Saturn. The 8th house, the house of death, is occupied by Mercury (signifying travellers, the young, etc.). Interestingly, it is also occupied by Neptune (signifying people like terrorists, among other things). Thus, all things point in the same direction: of the tragedy that happened.

What is the most interesting in that chart is that the fixed star of Deneb Adige (not shown in the above picture) is almost exactly conjunct with the Descendant. Deneb Adige is not doing well in this chart, being in the domicile and term of Jupiter and Venus, respectively. I quote, what could happen when this is the case: "Maternus asserts that badly aspected in this position, Deneb presages public punishment because of the theft of the spoils of war." Some would say that this description is very apt for the event.

Now let us talk about the future.

After looking at charts of India for the next few months, I am afraid that the Indian government might be tempted to give a befitting reply in a military style to Pakistan, with some online voices even asking it to emulate Israel in Gaza. The analogy is wrong in many ways, but first and foremost that Pakistan is no Gaza and it is also a nuclear power. More importantly, as the fall of Assad in Syria and the Ukraine-Russia war have changed, modern rules of warfare have changed: cheap drones can be far more effective today than expensive missiles, especially when nuclear deterrence means that wars cannot be fought with all your matériel. I neither am an expert on defence matters nor follow defence deals, so I do not know if Indian military has been keeping itself up to date or not with such equipment: I hope it is doing so. In military affairs, it is not that numbers is everything: otherwise, Russia by now would have won against Ukraine. (The population ratio of Russia:Ukraine is almost the same as that of India:Pakistan.)

I hope that the Indian government does not go the path of military strike against Pakistan, for, astrologically, conditions have changed: late May 2025 to early 2027 is not a good period at all for India. It is a period of violence for India: internal (communal violence, etc.), but external, too, is possible. I have already written about how it might be a time when Indian economy could suffer (in particular, during 2026-27). (I have also predicted the strong likelihood of a major earthquake in this year 2025-26 in India.) In 2019, at the time of the Balakot strike, astrological conditions were different. This time, India could get trapped or bogged down in a war. Even a short-duration war, and especially any long-drawn-out one, could have a strong impact on the Indian economy, markets and currency: any such negative impact would rather serve the purposes of terrorists, as one of their objectives could be to weaken India. The world is already going through enough geopolitical turmoil: India should stay out of it.

What does look likely, though, from the charts is that the Indian government would take the populist decision of retaliating militarily against Pakistan, and there would be a strong surge in popularity for some time for the ruling government on account of this decision. However, the solar eclipse of September 22, 2025, is affecting India's charts very negatively (that the eclipse is not visible in India doesn't matter astrologically), in addition to the Neptune-Saturn and Mars-Saturn conjunctions upcoming in 2026: one must remember that India is traditionally ruled by the sign of Capricorn, thus Saturn. The solar eclipse is strongly affecting the 8th and 9th houses for India. (One must remember that the September 2022 solar eclipse would be quite a malefic one in general for the world, given that the eclipse will fall right opposite to Saturn on the charts.) The houses of death, shared financial matters, sea and air movements (including Navy and Air Force movements and facilities), higher education, religion. (An incident at a higher education institution cannot be ruled out in the near future.)

It is not a time for belligerence. I hope saner voices prevail.
