Weather watch: 10-17 Oct 2024

Weather Watch posts are always available to all, regardless of your subscription status, as they are published in the public interest, so that mitigation measures can be taken in advance when bad weather is forecast. For regular astrological updates regarding different countries, regions, events and leaders, please consider subscribing here.

Note: Prediction periods are not ON-OFF switches. Thus, if some prediction period starts from, let us say, 15 October, it is not that things cannot happen on 13 or 14 October. You may head to the Terminology page to make sure you understand what I mean when I name some particular city or region in these advance weather warning bulletins.

This post won't be edited once published.

Astrometeorological predictions for the period 10-17 Oct 2024:

  • Some of the areas around 80 degrees East longitude could see significantly high wind speeds. Some places not far from this line include Pithoragarh, Bareilly, Lucknow, Kanpur, Gwalior, Bhilai, Nagpur and Vijayawada. The coastal area around Machilipatnam or the seas between Nagapattinam area and northern/eastern Lankan coast (especially around Trincomalee) could see a storm.
  • The Joshimath-Chamoli-Munsyari area could see some strong mountain activity, so there is a heightened risk of landslides or seismic activity. Possibility of earthquake in India (especially northern India) or neigbouring Xinjiang/Tibet exists. This possibility is strongest near the 77.5 degrees East line.
  • Much of the western half of India could be abnormally warm for this season, especially the belt from Jodhpur till Surat (which includes cities such as Ahmedabad and Vadodara). However, the possibility of precipitation or even a storm exists for the western tip of India (Okha, Naliya, etc.) or in Sindh/Balochistan.
  • The Golestan Province and neighbouring areas from the Mazandaran Province in Iran as well as Aktau in Kazakhstan may see quite a bit of precipitation. Other areas, too, by the Caspian Sea may see heightened precipitation.
  • Eastern Black Sea coast, an area which includes places such as Batumi and Turkey, and/or inland eastern Turkey, such as Mardin, may see significant precipitation. Weather in the rest of Turkey and most of Greece appears nice and sunny.
  • Moscow-Voronesj-Krasnodar area and eastern Ukraine could see strong precipitation.
  • Many parts of Japan and the Korean Peninsula may see strong precipitation.
  • Northeastern China, too, especially the Harbin-Shenyang area, could see strong precipitation.
  • There may be copious rains in the Sihanoukville-Ho Chi Minh City area. Parts of Thailand and Laos may also see strong spells of rain.
  • The area around Bandar Lampung-Jakarta may see strong rain. Singapore, too, and parts of Malaysia near it could see heavy rains.
  • Much of the Philippines, areas in Banda Sea (such as Sulawesi) and Guinea as well as the neigbouring northern coastline of Australia, which includes northern Queensland, may see strong precipitation. Taiwan, too, could see a good amount of rains.
  • Parts of South Australia and Victoria coastline, especially the stretch between Port Lincoln and Melbourne, may receive very heavy precipitation.
  • Weather in much of Central and Eastern Europe and parts of Western Europe looks pleasant overall.
  • However, near the 1.5 degrees West line, there could be a strong storm or significant precipitation or even an earthquake. Places near this line include Saint-Malo, Rennes, Nantes, La Rochelle, Bordeaux, San Sebastian, Pamplona, Zaragoza, Albacete, Murcia, Oran and Oujda. Pretty much all of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland are near this line as are the Faroe Islands, but Ireland looks to be the rainiest.
  • The area around Ammassalik (Greenland) may see severe weather or a storm.
  • Parts of the Eastern African coast, such as the Nacala-Dar-es-Salaam-Mombasa stretch, could see strong rains. Madagascar, too, could receive very strong rains. The Seychelles, too, could receive copious rains, as can the islands of Mauritius and Réunion.
  • The eastern half of Brazil may see strong rains, especially Fortaleza-Recife-Salvador area.
  • There may be strong rains in northern Colombia, such as Barranquilla-Aruba area, and in the nearby Venezuela regions. Jamaica, parts of Cuba, Haiti and Dominican Republic, too, may see strong rains.
  • Possibility of earthquake in or near Chile/Peru.
  • Good amount of precipitation possible around Lima-Ica region (Peru) or nearby Chilean areas.
  • Chance of strong precipitation in the Eastern U.S., especially the Northeastern U.S., with Virginia-New York area looking particularly vulnerable. Southeastern U.S., especially Georgia and the Carolinas, could again face strong rains.
  • The Midwest region may see strong winds and even tornadoes. The Dakotas, eastern Colorado, eastern Wyoming, Kansas and Nebraska are looking particularly vulnerable.
  • Possibility of a strong earthquake in California-Baja California region. The stretch from the Death Valley to San Diego, which includes places such as Barstow and Victorville, looks more vulnerable.
  • The coastline of the states of Oregon and Washington and the nearby Vancouver region could see quite a bit of precipitation.
  • The area around Juneau may see strong precipitation.
