Indian actor Saif Ali Khan: A brief astrological analysis of his charts, his life and the stabbing incident

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is in news recently because of a horrific stabbing incident, which he, thankfully, is reported to have survived well. The news led me to wonder about what his charts must be showing right now, and what so far his life may have been. But for that, I would need his birth details.

After some search, an Internet source gave his birth time as 4:02 am, born in Mumbai on August 16, 1970. Let us do an initial check if what we know of Saif's life matches the chart resulting from such a birth time. (As there are too many Khans in the film industry, I will refer to him as Saif in the remaining article, rather than by the usual English custom of using the surname.) The following is his birth chart:

Broad strokes of his life do match this chart. The 10th house ruler, Mars, is in 2nd house, indicating the native could follow the same profession as his family did. It is in the sign of Leo but combust as well as peregrine, indicating success in the public-facing career is mixed. However, 2nd house ruler, Sun, is in its own domicile, with an extremely tight square from a reasonably strong Saturn, indicating the person is born into money (or the father is rich) but he or his family also faces persistent monetary troubles (persistent given that Saturn is placed in Taurus), with the troubles stemming from father's friends or wider social circle (Saturn in 11th). The 4th house ruler is also in its own domicile: the home is luxurious, the mother is beautiful or in a profession where beauty or feminine qualities is important. Uranus also occupies the house, indicating home life is not stable. The 7th ruler is that Saturn again, in the 11th, indicating spouse met through social circle or at work. The 6th and 9th house lord is a peregrine Jupiter: education, religious inclinations and health or robustness of the body, all may be ordinary. The 5th house, being occupied by this Jupiter, and governed by the fertile sign of Scorpio, indicates he is likely to have many children. However, Jupiter, as we noted, is peregrine, the 5th is occupied by Neptune, and the lord of the 5th is again that combust but peregrine Mars: relationships with children may see some kind of deception or tussle over resources/money. To compensate as if, 3rd house ruler, Mercury, is in its own domicile and ably supported by a good Saturn: good, enduring relationships with siblings. However, Pluto also occupies the 3rd, which means schooling may have had issues. Finally, 1st house ruler is in 8th, a peregrine Moon, which is in a loose square with Jupiter and tight trine with Uranus and less tight trine with Venus. Probably a person with some strange tastes, or someone whom mysteries excite, and also with quite a few dramatic moments in life and a longish age.

We cannot confirm some of the points above, but most of it seems to match with what we know about Saif. But let us test the chart a bit more, using some of the key events in his life.

In 1998-1999, there is a heavy focus on Mercury, including Saturn arcing to Mercury. This was the time of the blackbuck poaching case. Mercury signifies talk about him, but also his own thoughts and communication. That Saturn is arcing it signifies this was a time when thoughts were revolving around not so happy things. Then around 2002-2003, we have several good transits in his life. Jupiter arcs to his Midheaven in 2002, indicating high success/achievement, and in 2001, Uranus arcs to Moon, indicating a dramatic change in his popularity. In 2001, the movie Dil Chahta Hai, his first big hit, released, and in late 2003, Kal Ho Naa Ho, another big hit, released. In fact, the day of the release of Kal Ho Naa Ho, November 28, 2003, his Midheaven is almost exactly arcing to Mars, indicating change of status, good recognition. In late 2003-early 2004 period, Mars is arcing to his Moon, indicating him to be become more self-assertive, letting it rip; Sun also starts to arc to Pluto. I don't know the reasons behind his divorce with his first wife Amrita Singh around this time, but this seems to be a major contributory thing from the chart. Then in 2009 Mars arcs to Pluto: delivery of his hit film Love Aaj Kal.

Before that, in 2007, Midheaven arcs to Saturn, indicating some kind of professional change or change in his family or relationships that come to the fore. One must remember from his birth chart, described above, that Saturn is also the ruler of his 7th house. It is reported that during this time he started dating his future wife, Kareena Kapoor. Jupiter is also arcing to his Ascendant at this time, indicating him to be feeling nice in general, and, in addition, Jupiter also rules his 9th house, the house for his second wife. In 2012, Venus arcs Mars: a quite strong indication of his marriage with Kareena. Interestingly, Sun and Saturn, too, each of them arcs Mars during this time, as if he is energetic and indecisive at the same time.

Now let us jump to the present. On January 16, 2025, around 2:30 am at his Bandra (West) apartment, he was stabbed multiple times in a serious attack. What does one see? Neptune is almost exactly arcing to his Ascendant. Neptune stands often for someone dishonest. If you were ever burgled or defrauded or cheated by someone, you will often find Neptune-Mercury in play. Here, Mercury is not involved, as there is no fraud. Just the Neptune is there. And the Ascendant, representing the person's body. Thus, the attack was caused by someone dishonest, or the reason behind it is some kind of deception or dishonesty.

But Neptune alone may represent someone who is dishonest but can't represent the attack itself. What explains the attack? Pluto is also arcing his Mars during this time. A huge change in energy and vigour of the person, probably caused by an attack. (This is only one possible interpretation: Pluto arcing to Mars can be good, too, if other transits are doing great.) Let us look at the transit chart itself for January 16, 2025, at 2:30 am, setting Bandra (West) as the location:

Note the backdrop: Pluto, since moving to Aquarius, a few days back, has been in a tight square with Jupiter, the ruler of his 6th house (health and daily routine). Mars ("aggression," "iron or steel," "weapon made of iron or steel"), since becoming retrograde recently, is getting more and more conjunct his Ascendant ("his body"). At the time of the attack, transit Moon was conjunct natal Mars, activating it. This natal Mars is found in his chart in the sign of Leo, which governs the spine. It is reported that a big knife was found lodged in his spine, and Saif has "sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord" due to this.

Finally, let us look at the ongoing solar return (SR) for him, the period that is showing his life from around August 16, 2024, to around August 16, 2025:

An extremely unfortunate year! With SR Ascendant in natal 1st house (drawn by Placidus system) and Sun in the 1st in SR standalone, and Pluto in the 6th, it is quite evident health/bodily issues will trouble the native in this year. With 8th ruler in the 11th, and the 8th occupied by Neptune in the solar return, and Mars occupying the 11th, I also anticipate some kind of trouble for some friend or family member/relative of Saif in the year going forward: a case of concern for health of some friend or family member or even bereavement. Uranus in the 10th puts him back in the limelight. (In the second half of 2026, there may be some big change in his career, status or public image, as Uranus will arc his Midheaven.)
