General global overview of Year 2025-26

I am publishing this post on what is marked as the New Year on the Western calendar. However, astrologically, January 1 is not that relevant except that one knows the Sun is back to nearly the same position as it is on every January 1, plus or minus a few hours or a day. Thus, it is mainly a relevant date for those individuals and entities who are born around this date. For a significant number of astrologers, the year is considered to start once spring (with reference to the Northern Hemisphere) starts: that is, when the Sun enters the sign of Aries. In 2025, for tropical astrologers like me, that date will be March 20, 2025.

Thus, this post is about the 1-year period starting from March 20, 2025. When I say "the year" or "this year" in this post, it always means the period from March 20, 2025, till March 20, 2026. Only when I say a "calendar year," it means a given year from January 1 till December 31.

The following gives a preview of the overall flavour of the year 2025-26. More specific predictions will come in posts specific to each country that I cover: I plan to publish them from late January or early February 2025 onwards.

Predictions

General validity period: 20 March 2025 to 20 March 2026

• A highly incident-prone and accident-prone period in general. I anticipate this year to be heavy especially on the accidents in air and sea, or those involving aircraft and watercraft. In addition, there may be prominent incidents at seaports and airports, as well as attacks or attempts of invasion by sea or air.
• The year may be marked by natural disasters: more than usual or some big typhoons and tornadoes. There may also be big earthquake or landslide events. In particular, there may be an extremely big earthquake in the year, probably in its second half.
• There may be severe storms in several parts of the world, especially during March-June period. At the same time, however, there may be droughts or extremely dry weather in some other parts, notably from May onwards. Water's overabundance in some places and lack in other places could be a key story of the year.
• The year may see increased crime of certain types such as kidnappings, stabbings, terrorist incidents and attacks by lone wolves or those who are mentally unbalanced. Incidents of fire, explosions and gunshots, too, may increase as the year progresses.
• Religious conflicts and communal riots may increase in both frequency and intensity in some countries, including India.
• Social movements demanding rights, justice and equality may increase and even become violent. Strikes may increase, and overall there would be the vibes of a discontented populace in several lands. Politics to become very fractious overall.
• The Middle East as well as North and East Africa regions may see strong disturbances or new structures in terms of governance and rulers. I would be especially concerned with Sudan & South Sudan, Uganda, Israel & Palestine, Syria & Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. I only cover some of these countries in my regular predictions, hence I felt it necessary to name them here.
• Both the U.S. and Canada as well as India may see difficult times financially or in terms of trade.
• England could suffer from some major storm or incident at a port, while Italy could see a landslide or earthquake.
• Major changes are possible for Ukraine-Russia region and how they are ruled. Calendar years 2025 or 2026 may see a major historical change in the governance of Russia.
